RC Tank Warfare community hobby forum

Greetings to all on this very interesting and fun loving forum. I have joined on behalf of my properly dyslexic son. As he struggles to read or write it is down to me to access this site and let him into the new world of RC tanks; to date he has built both his own static scratch builds from wood - for BB target practice - and around 10 from plastic kits to include Tigers, Shermans, Churchills and a WW1 'Female' tank. All done pretty well at a starting age of 8 to nudging 11 now. He is as interested in the actual history surrounding tanks as he is in the machines themselves. Not being able to read up on the subject means he seeks out films and models instead. Thankfully he appreciates war is a bloody and horrible business but that does not stop him enjoying the hardware. Not sure how active we will be but at least we have made a start.

Its nice that he has an interest in the machines and not war itself, atleast it will help him become aware of what a nasty thing it is to go to war. I feel the same way, for me its just the mechanical stuff I like. I like the fact that you can have a 50+ ton vehicle going fast offroad.

Thanks Andy. We are looking to buy 'our' first RC tank - prefer a used one from an enthusiast - and have been in contact with Michele via this forum with regard to the Tiger 1 up for grabs. (Heng Long). Was going to attach some pics but @450 KiB cannot get them down to a low enough resolution. J

Welcome to you and your son, I'm sure their are benefits here on the forum for your son as we have many build threads with many pictures. Seems like their was an article about dyslexia and a software that was available? As far as the pictures you can use off site link like Photo Bucket. Or resize using PAINT in windows accessories. What years of BSA's do you have? Several members here have vintage motorcycles as well.

Please don't get me on the subject of British paralell twins. I will bore everyone rigid. First Beeza was a Bantam D14 followed by a fake Road Rocket -think worn out A10 with dropped bars plus rear sets (Eddie Dow) and you will get an idea. Oil in frame 1970 Lightening and, best of all, a modified Thunderbolt in a Trident T150 frame with Commando roadster tank and a Lockeed racing front disc with Yamaha XS750 master cylinder and controls. Always prefferred the look of the pre-unit engines but the later engines could be tuned and made reliable if you know what to do. More accurately have access to someone who does. That hobby of mine went west with the arrival of a wife who hated riding pillion and the need to buy a house. One day.... WARNED YOU I WAS A BORE!
