Hey guys, as ive watched folks scratch build such awesome works such as septons comet, to name but one, I would like to have a go at scratchbuilding too! My tank i would love in 1/16 (or any other scale) is an e100.

This is where I could really use some help, I was thinking of using an old Tamiya King Tiger, but I dont have the slightest clue to start with!

Would any of you be willing to give me any advise, does anybody have any plans, or even some 1/16 e100 parts lying around?

Cheers for helping a newbie,

Regards,

Alex

hi alex
i have not done any scratch building yet, but i think a good start would be have alook on the 'net for the E-100, here's a link i found
http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/sh ... p?t=109169, get as much info' on it as you can, may be even buy a smaller scale model of it, and scale it up, i'm not sure how that is done, and take it from there. looking at those pic's, i'd say a KT as a base may not be a bad idea, the hull & chassis looks similar. there is a few guys on here, septon, grompix, who i think will give you the benefit of their experiance, these amongst others are good scratch builders

i,m looking into doing the same thing myself, you can use the hull deck but it needs to be stretched and widened, some of the turret  roof components can also be used, everything else has to be scratched built but its all slab sides so thats not a big problem, next to a king tiger the E100 is huge heres a pic of two i built in 1/35 to show the relative sizes....

I think a company called hooben are actually going to release a 1:16 E100 some time next year.
This is the same company that will shortly release a 1:16 T55A.

Cheers

the E100 pictured is total fantasy the E100 was supposed to have the Mause turret plans for the turret pictured never existed, the 1/35 kit is made by Trumpeter and was copied from a modeler who just made up the turret design and did a very good job did think of this one myself but with everything else that's going on it ain't going to happen

I did read somewhere in one of my books that the E100 never had a turret fitted and it shows this picture of it unfinished, however they did finish the Maus, so if you want to build a super heavy tank i say go for the biggest and do the Maus ;D

the E100 did not have the maus turret fitted, this was something the Russians tried fitting when they found the E100 hull and a maus turret  they figured they were off the same tank as the turret ring fitted into the hull ring, the maus turret placed on the E100 hull is total fantasy, here is what the E100 turret was supposed to look like.

the turret is also for the proposed E100  the hull is from the E100 or E75  series, drawings of this turret were found in the waffen heer early this year and the full drawings are about to be released by panzertracks krupp turret designs E100 / maus.
