Funny I actually just did this the other night for my King Tiger.
Saw somewhere in a magazine, cut up pieces of old photography
negatives or slide film. Yes I know this may be hard to get these
days! Just a tip, use glue that won't fog the film, for example
super glue is not good. Haven't got a pic sorry, they look good.

You could also use tamiya smoke as that is dark but dries shiny, tip of the day lay tank on its side so the paint does not all run to the bottom of the vision slot.
Fleshy..........

Clear acetate sheet (OHP overlays or clear styrene. Paint the vision block black or use a magic marker and glue the clear acetate over it with PVA. The PVA dries translucent and gives a nice, slightly dirty effect.
Seafire.

Find yourself some folder divider tabs (the ones that come in all the colors) Pick you color (I like green)then cut to size for slot or periscope. glue to periscope . gives good reflection and no painting.
