HL Tiger barrel extension problem

I got a metal barrel extension for my Heng Long Tiger (this one).

After following the hints in the picture in this topic, I'm stuck. I've cut the main gun in two, filed it down a bit and... the extension doesn't fit :(

When I say it doesn't fit, I mean it kind of fits. I can get the longer side of the extension partially into the main gun. The stubby side of the extension doesn't fit the rest of the gun, but I'm sure with some filing on the inside of the gun it would (at least partially) fit.

Has anyone here used the extension? Any tips and advice will be much appreciated.

After realising that the above isn't all that clear, I've taken some pictures:
Main gun (with most of the gun cut off)
Rest of main gun + extension

To add stregth, you may need to insert into the bore a tight fitting brass tube between barrel and extension...of course, no more BB's if this is a BB barrel

I had the same problem, and it took some filing and brute force to get it to fit, you just have to be careful not to damage any edges or you will have to get the filler out...like I did. I ended up getting a metal barrel?? :problem:

Thanks everyone. Looks like I'll be filing away!

Just for the record: which part of the extension goes into which part of the gun? The shorter end of the extension fits 'nicely' (sort of) into the part of the gun that is still attached to the tank. Both the short and long ends are, for the moment, impossible to get in the now-detached (cut off) part of the gun.

This might help.

That helps indeed - thanks! :)

As mentioned by someone else, you have to be careful when doing this. I've already caused two small cracks in the gun. (Luckily I'm also the proud owner of modelling putty.)

[edit]

It's done! Unfortunately I tried to file down the inside of the main gun rather filing down the extension. Once I started doing the latter, it went a lot better. The filing inside of the main gun caused some cracks so putty was needed... I wasn't able to get it looking 100% perfect but it's good enough and, well, let's just consider the marks "battle damage" ;)

As a "funny" aside: when glueing the extension in place (with 10-second glue which actually manages to live up to its advertising!), I forgot to insert the "BB barrel" (the 'metal' tube) and didn't realise it until minutes after glueing the parts together. No more BBs from the Tiger (to the joy of the other half :haha:).

I'll try to remember to post a picture when I'm done painting it.

A big thank you! for all the advice, everyone, it's been extremely helpful. If it wasn't for this topic, I more than likely would've ended up with a destroyed main gun and having to buy a replacement (the extension sitting in a drawer, unused, forever mocking my failure).
