Hi,

A few years ago I spent some time in China and spent a day in the Military Museum in Beijing. These photos are the sole survivors of my visit because I was a naughty boy. Photography is not allowed in most of the museum and I got caught. I was very politely taken into an office, where my camera was confiscated and I was interviewed (very politely).
After my short and very polite interview my camera was returned to me (very politely) and I was allowed to go. Unfortunately the contents of the memory stick had been deleted.
What they didn't get was the photos on the memory stick I had removed just after I had entered the museum, so here they are!

Hi xrad,

Didn't take you long to guess that one! They actually had three U2 wrecks there, this one was the most recognisable as I remember.
Also quite a lot of other American equipment and much of it looked in fairly original, unrestored condition.

What is particularly interesting from a personal point of view is the amphibious tank. Built in ally, based on a Russian design, twin jet drives and a bl**dy big gun! (next stop Taiwan?)

Cheers

Peter

U2: probably a gift from Cuba to Russia to china???

Agree on the amphibian! but you know it is going to have paper thin armor to float and carry the big gun..one good shot..yer sunk..

Hey, at least we are not writing to you in a chinese jail!

You haven't formatted the stick they "wiped" have you?
There is some very useful software out there (some of it free) that will recover images that have been "accidentally" deleted from memory cards/sticks!

;0)

oops! just re-read. It was a few years ago, not much chance of recovery now; I bet the stick has been used a lot, or even lost since then....
