Schwere Panz. Abt.654 Normandy help please

Hi Im trying to establish which of the three Kompanies of Schwere Panz. Abt.654 had the early Jagdpanthers with the two part barrel . And also which Komp. took part in the battle at Caumont. In the A.T.B. book ' Panzers in Normandy ' It says 2 Komp. were at Caumont and it shows two Jagdpanthers in front of the cafe Billard , beloning to 2nd Komp. But in the A.T.B. book ' Ruckermarsch' it shows the same picture linked to the 3rd Komp. with more pictures from the film showing a Jagdpanther numbered 302 ? And to add to this in the modeling magazine ' Military Modelcraft theres a model early Jagdpanther with the two part barrel . Which is ment to be from Abt. 653 (think thats a printing mistake as I thought the 654 was the only unit with Jagdpanthers in Normandy) . He states that its from the 1st Komp as they mainly had early Jagdpanthers with the two part barrel . Ive got the following order of how the 654 arrived in Normandy if its correct :
2nd Komp. June
3rd Komp. end of July
1st Komp. August

This is the pict Im refering to
and these two next two picts I think are not the same Jagdpanther as the first picture ? Going on the spare tracks mounted on the side of the second picture dont seem to be on the Jagdpanther on the first picture but is it the same Komp. ?

And 302
Any help , picts is apreciated
Andy

About 1/2 - 2/3 of the way down it states that Jagdpanthers used in Normandy were from 654, good reading there!

Hi Ad Lav,
Thanks mate ,the 654 were the only unit of Jagdpanthers in Normandy so picts of them are not very common . Im looking for information to show which of the 3 kompanies had the early version Jagdpanther with the two part barrel but from what Ive seen of Jagdpanthers in Normandy , I have not yet seen one with the early one piece barrel . And also which one thought at Caumont , destroying 11 ( or more depending on what you read) British Churchills in only a few mins . With the loss of two Jagdpanthers through track problems. Nice link mate.

I have a book (specifically about Panthers - Concord Publications) that shows your first picture, albeit at a better angle and slightly further up the road by the looks of it, showing it towing the tank behind and both have the early barrel.
The notes state its from 3./s.Pzjg.Abt. 654 based in Bourgtheroulde

Hi Blake , thanks mate

. I have the book modeling the Jagdpanzer and in there the pict of the two towing near the building with BYRRH on it the Jagdpanther being towed number 332 clearly has the two part barrel and these picts are infact 3rd Komp. as Ad Lav states . However the 654 received there first Jagdpanthers on May 4th 1944 and the first Komp. to reach Normandy was the 2nd Komp. So I think there Jagdpanthers must of had the early version barrel. As for the battle of Caumont it could of been 2 Komp . The 3rd Komp with the two part barreled Jagdpanthers reached Normandy around the end of July , the battle at Caumont was on the 30th of July . I need to research this more . I have now altered my recoiling barrel to the early style so no going back hmmm .
Thanks Andy
