need a bit of info for a turret protection ring for a H/L tiger,can you buy one,are they easy to fit, any information will be appreciated thanks.

found a photo of what i am after fitting to my H/L tiger, is it a turret protection ring have i got the name wrong if so sorry.

No you have it correct,seems their was a post about this ring coming in three pieces and something about the need to file,or alter the third section. I think WELSHDRAGON may have this kit, Hope that helps,Sax

Hi mate I made my own turret ring like the other post they are in three segments . Most were bolted on and I think they have seven bolt holes but only five were used . A word or warning tho . You cant fit a ring around the stock Heng Long Tiger as the turret spins of centre . I centerlised my turret by altering the turret base and by moving the turret hole bacwards . The post should be on here but not sure if the picts are still on . I do still have some tho .

This is my late Tiger turret , Ive made it look like the later two part constructed roof , Kingtigers style loaders hatch with of centre handle . I also added the interior detail , corected the bin end angles added the rear mushroom and lowered the centre hole , made the side lifting lugs more acurate, made oppening bin lids, and added the usual late features

Heres a link to my post mate . You will probally work out you only need to cut out one square out to move the ring on the upper deck rather than the two i did . Also Ive changed the way I moved the turret base . I just cut the rotation ring out and moved it , filling the spaces with styrene.

Just remembered also when the turret protection ring was fitted the escape / side hatch hinge was reduced in depth. The first ones were just reduced early ones so you have two bolts holding it on and you can just make out the remains of the third lower bolt hole . I think they then went on to make the hinges with just two bolts . Heres a picture of the Vimouties Tiger showing the variation with two mounting bolts and the remains of the third one . Note the turret ring is missing but you can see the bolt holes on the upper deck for it .

thanks for the info and pm littletankman,still thinking of doing the ring mod will have a good think about it first. move the turret ring centre say 10-12mm back see photo,its only a guess have not had a ruler on it yet that will make the turret move forward 10-12mm then will i have to move the turret hole in the top deck back 10-12mm so the front of the turret does not block the hatches have i got it right or have i missed something thanks for your help

Hi your welcome mate I did this a long time ago , but I have another one to do . I think I moved the hole in the upper body 10mm back but in doing this I re located the turet rotation unit . When you centralise the turret bottom I think it moves 5mm . I have heard that the distance to move the turret hole in the upper body is 15mm . But when you do what I did it is 15mm in total and seems to look ok . I havent sprayed my Tiger as Ive partialy improved the turret base after a re think and Im holding of until Ive got a battle system fitted. And like you say the mantlet will sit just behind the front hatches. Any more help or picts just ask mate .
