Thought I might share the models built by a new partner of mine. His expertise is TIGERS.

I'd say he would be what you call an expert on the subject. He has done some 1/35 work. A few years ago he took on some 1/16 projects and did a nice job.

He did about 3 years in 1/1 scale Tigers, then for a while he did some work on 1/1 Jadgtigers His Tigers won him some awards.

Iron Corss First Class, Iron Cross Second Class, Knight's Cross and a few other awards. He wrote a great book about his Tigers. Maybe you have read "TIGERS IN THE MUD."

Enjoy!

It would be comically funny if self-proclaimed internet Tiger experts commented that his models were not historically accurate to how the real things were.

LOL...I had that happen to me on more than one occasion. Guys would come up ad tell me how my RC model of the USS DALLAS was not correct for this reason or that reason. It was fun then to introduce myself as TM1/SS Leading Torpedoman on USS DALLAS SSN 700. Of course somewould still argue because they saw it in a book. Funniest thing was when I would take them to the boat and show them, A few insisted the real boat was wrong.

Hi Brother,

I have read and re-read his book.

A great military read and it does give a real insight not only to WWII Eastern Front tank combat, but the 1930's and 1940's political science attitudes (being polite) of at least this one highly decorated tank ace and German commander:

Tigers in the Mud: The Combat Career of German Panzer Commander Otto Carius

Of interest, if you all read his book, the US Army Pershings shot up his 1945 Western Front Jagdtiger command pretty good, which happened due to inexperienced German crews, Mr Carius suggests, and discounting the lack of time or experience in the ETO for the quick reacting Allied tankers that day.

So as to political science, why is former Panzer Commander Otto Carius talking to and being friendly to you, a Juden Nase Amerikaner Swab Jockey or has he really mellowed in his very old age?

:haha: :haha: :haha: :haha:

Best Regards,

John

Very cool, are you going to post the book online and did the old Axis soldier want payment for services in shekels or US dollars?

Not sure if it is going on line or not. Kinda coordinating the novel withthe screenplay, (somthing I don't do.)

Answer is no. Mr. Carius agreed to help after he read afew chapters. He and Von Rossen, and Fey are also going to be the voices for my moving tank commanders.

Hey John did you part with the Pershing yet? Not seen much of you on RCU of late.

This post is interesting WWII history stuff and getting to know those old war horses...really neat.

Seeing that this top WWII German tank commander also enjoys model tanks is fascinating in its own right.

I also know that many of those elderly WWII gentlemen still have the stuff in them.

My 88 year old father in law, a WWII Rainbow Division combat vet; met up with their host; the WWII German combat unit counter parts they fought in Germany and Bavaria; for a reunion recently. After a few beers both groups of gray and distinguished, but very old men, couldn't wait to kill each other again. Good thing both sides had their wives with them to rein them all in.

No, I still have the Pershing and will probably weather it after the summer, but waiting for pattoncommander to tell me how to make appropriate tie downs for ammo cans. If you need a Pershing email me for more info. It is a stock build with some turret reliability tweaks and runs good.

Haven't had anything to say at rcu, no real Tamiya rc tank building activity on my part, plus rcu keeps emailing in Mid Western Anglo Chinese speak and telling me their site is just for HL tanks now days.

And I email back and let okie boy moderator know I love HL tanks, I give them to my 120 pound bluetick coonhound for chew toys on his birthday. The dog answers to Custer, in honor of the 7th Cav officer who had a terminal day at the Little Big Horn.

;D ;D ;D ;D

The best, John
