Something to think about Part 1

I just found a French RC tank forum, I thought that there would be one somewhere.

I was browsing around the site looking for events, and as Saumur is not far away, I was intrigued when I saw that they get display space at the open days. What was even more interesting was where the Saumur Tank Museum allocate them space....it is all of this, right here!

They are allowed to run their tanks, battles etc, and even set up tank simulators etc. Then there is the evening meal...sounds like 2 days of paradise to me?

All I have to do now is learn the entire French language and I am off down there next year. Interestingly the conversations that take place on their forum are exactly the same as the conversations on this one (well, apart from the one that starts "I have bought a Leopard" or that one that starts "I am building a Super Pershing..." :D )

Well if I can master the language I will see what opportunities are available. The problem I have is that although French is relatively easy to pick up verbally, it is a nightmare when it comes to writing, all those accents over letters etc can change the meaning of a word. I attend a weekly informal get together, two French females, me and a friends English wife who speaks good French. The French females speak English and I speak French.

As an exercise, we all have to write a short story each week and read it out. That part is ok, and they understand me perfectly...but when they take a look at what I have written, it is full of grammatical/spelling errors.

It seems that there are some master modellers over here, it was one of the guys on the tank forum that went with his team to the international rc boat competition in the other video, it's just a matter of finding one that speaks some English!

Will see what I can do over the next few months...bit difficult to concentrate at the mo, the French Air Force use my house as target practice for low level bombing runs! Silence, then....shhhhrrrrreeeee....wrrraaaaaa....whooooooshhhhhhh .....it certainly wakes you up!
