My King Tiger is equiped with the Schumo track tensioner, since I from the very beginning intended to use metal tracks.

Does anyone know the best way to tension the metal tracks, using the track tensioner from Schumo? Is it for example normal for the idlers to move a little bit after they've been tentionend and locked in position using the 3x20 mm screws?

Any help is gladly accepted!

Mato or Tamiya KT?? If the tamiya (what I have with added schumo tensoiners) I found it easier to positon the tensioner in about the middle position (arm points downa nd to the rear) Then load the tracks just like on the full size version (pin out of one link so that you can wrap the track. You may have to compress the suspension to put the pin back in (NOT ALL THE WAY...and do it up front just below th drive wheel).

Balance the tank with full load.

Do you need to take another link out or loosen or tighten the tensioners???

Pull out the loose track pin and adjust the tensioner. If too loose or too tight, you may have to remove a link. BE SURE that tracks have the same amount of links per side.

On the KT, I find it easier to adjust the tensioner when the tracks are off...little extra work..but worth it

I've set the track tensioner so that the tracks have about the same tension as this preserved King Tiger.

And I think it looks good. It also seems to act okey. Took it out for a spin in our apartment, the battery prevented a more extensive trial. I hope to test it in the woods during the weekend or in a week or two.
