Hi Guys
I was in my local model shop earlier looking at bits for a project and got chatting to another customer..
Turns out he has an older H/L Tiger 1 which he wants £30 for,in its box.
I duley went to view the tank and it is mint,,,,BUT it has an older controller with 3 switchable frequencies.
Is it worth doing the electrics with a RX18 or should i leave well alone or use it as a static???

Hi If you all ready have a smoke and sound tank buy it ,then all you need is the rx18 board and a reciever board ,plus a speaker ,you can use the transmitter from the other tank .

I suppose i could rob the KV of its elecs but will it be a simple loom and board swap or is there lots of soldering etc to do?

for £30 even an old basic hl is worth having as 971 says you only need the rx-18/reciver bord, speaker and smoker you can use the same controller by swapping the xtals
ps. kv1s what are you doing online @ 4.16am

i thoght i was the only vampire here

I agree with daisycutter, snap it up and then you can upgrade it in your own time; have bought a few early basic hl's off ebay, couple of them pantigers (which i know aren't most popular tank on here), but at 20 odd or 30 quid, you feel less worried takin them to bits and chopping bit's off and modding them, plus bit of cash left to spend on expensive bits, gearboxes, tracks, wheels etc, end of day you got summat bit unique(if not perfectly historical) and fun for not much overall cost.

exactly a real cheap hl is a good tank to cut your teeth on with modding/conversion than jumping in the deeper/deep end with a new hl or tamiya

I must admit to looking at some really good builds on here and it makes me want to be part of it..
Maybe i will look at the cosmetic side of it 1st to see how i get on before i worry about the leccys.
Went on Tankzone earlier and was suprised by the amount of upgrades for a T1,a lot more than is offered for my KV
