If you have problems with faces, as we all do. Try something different. Don't think of it as a face. Think of it as shapes. Better yet turn it upside down. Your eye and your brain will not see a face but shapes.

Check this out. Who is this a picture of? How long did it take you to recognize who it was? Try turning your work over.

Hi

I worked out a cheat years ago and it impressed people as to how simple it was. This works on 1/35 scale figures so It sould be easier on anything a bit larger. Paint the face white, dot the eyes, Then use a good quality flesh paint (tamiya is my fave). paint the face and hands make sure you get a good finish around the eyes. Once it has all dried nicely get a brush with some Humbrol track colour ( I found this to be the best shade of brown) and dilute it into some gloss varnish. Then paint the face and hands. The brown will collect into the features and it does a good job of defining the fingers too.

Don't have a clue on what your're trying to accomplish. Do you stand on your head to see what face looks like. What is the point?

Just try and paint your figure's face upside down. You will be able to see shade and highlight areas with your brain saying, "this is a face," or don't try it upto you.

After lots of disasterous attempts to paint the eyes on the crew figures in my Walker Bulldog, I cheated and gave them sunglasses!
Colour a piece of clear acetate on one side with a black marker, cut out the lens shape and glue the inked side into the eye socket with PVA. Dont worry about the frames as they would probably be invisible in 1/16 scale anyway.

Now there you go! Nice idea! That would also be good for DAK Panzers!!

Great thinking!
