New Smoker

Post by Saxondog »

I have been waiting on Bill to post in the new vendor section but have decided to share my latest addition to my Tiger S13.I have had 5-H/L Smokers.All these failed,my new Jagdpanther purchased in November lasted two hour before the element fried.So when the idea of a smoker that works was discussed on RCU I became involved in the development of this unit which is available from RCCOMMAND.I have installed this unit which is plug and play,within a few minutes I had something never experienced from the H/L unites real proportional smoke,no smell,no mess and no failure.From start up to full throttle smoke just keeps coming.fluid is fog juice,the power demand is minimal,and the best thing is silent operation.No nose from a pump to interfere with sound quality.Well enough said here is a link and some pictures of my Tiger S13,Cheers Blake http://www.rccommand.com/Whats_new.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This install is temporary,I am intending to pipe the tubes into the mufflers lower down on the back plate.

They look great! Just what I need. Whats the actual dimensions of the unit?
I'm wondering if this can be rigged up to a Tamiya system.

One question though, does it work with the tank going in forward and reverse?

Cheers,
Rik

The control is both forward and reverse,it plugs in the same as the H/L proportional unit with one exception it only connects to one motor,at start-up if I bump the joy stick the fan starts,this keeps the air flow moving and the smoke is instant this way.If you gun the motor the smoke increases quickly.Then back to idle and just a small stream of smoke.The element is powered using the same socket as the factory unit which allows the unit to be turned off if desired. The life is undetermined at this point,tomorrow I intend weather permitting to run my Tiger in circles around the back yard for at least two maybe three hour,while sitting in the shade.But the person who designed the finale unit has tested it for long life,and this was not some thrown together idea or effort,several months of testing different components until the final design.It was three different RC Modelers joining together to produce something we all had never had,a working reliable smoker.Then to be able to design a unit that is almost the same foot print as the H/L unit,but able to be offered in multiple voltages an for many different RC Vehicles,tank,boat,trucks and other machines as well,scales from 1/16 to 1/4,and from 6v to 24v.I am happy to finally have a unit that works, Blake

They do sound really cool Blake. The only problem is, with shipping to the UK the work out at £54! Quite expensive for a smoker. Still I may have to get one, lol.

perhaps Bill could combine shipping to one address,I have not heard from Steve at Welsh Dragon but the offer has been made.Every effort has been made to keep the cost down,and the more distribution the better the price would be.In the chat tonight we talked about the Tank kill smoke effect,basically when I/R death happens the smoker kicks in at full speed for a brief time filling the tank and hatches,turret base,any open to air area with smoke,since this is not oil based then no residue issue.Just another possibility,the hard thing for anyone to relate to is a unit that works,and keeps working.So whatever happens this just brings another level of realizism to this hobby,for Tanks,Boats,Trucks,and just about any situation where you want smoke.Blake
