Im thinking of converting my vintage Tamiya Sherman into a Firefly . Ive been thinking on this for ages , although Im not starting it yet . The thing that Ive been looking at is if you remove the side lip that runs the length of the tank . It makes the tracks pertrude past the side of the tank . Is there a way of avoiding this . Or is it something that cant be altered .

sorry mate if you remove the side skirts the track will stick out,only way after that is the way that Septon and myself are going and that is to put the vvss from the mato sherman on....or just live with it..............

Hi Thanks thats great Im going to do the same then mate thanks for that, I will look out for the build post . My Tamiya Shermans the 1974 model . I do have a full option one but Ive no plans for that just yet ? The older one I thought of adding HL electronics to it ? using there recoil etc . Now Im no good with electronics so bare with me . I wanted to add a battle system to this eventually but can you do this when the tank runs on the RX18 board ? Im very short of funds at the mo as Im curently out of work . but I wanted the correct battle system in this for the IR groups . Im also wanting to add a battle system into my Tiger thats running on the old RX13 bd but ive been talking to Mart about that one and think Ive sorted the best way to go .

One other thing is it possible some one can give me the dimentions please for a Firefly barrel and muzzel break . As I may be able to get one turned ?

Hi There are a few options for with regards to Battle systems ,for RX13or RX14 boards there is the Darkith system built you can get them from here http://rctankwars.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; these will also run on the RX18 board or if you want to build your own from here http://darkith.dyndns.org/~darkith/html/dbc.shtml" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Or if you have RX18 boards here http://rccommand.com/tank%20battle%20systems.php,with" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; a few canges these can work on RX13 boards and also RX14 boards.
The only other option is to keep an eyeout on E-bay for Tamiya DMD/MF units these are not cheap but they very good (I would go for the Pershing ones)or fit El-mod these again are not cheap but very good .

Hi yer I have Rx18 in all my tanks except my Tiger which is RX13 . Mart expplained the battle systems and advised me . Electronics are not my thing tho. But Im sure with advice from here i will get it sorted . As for Tamiya DMD /MF units I know I bought the sound modul to put on my vintage Tamiya kingtiger which now is full option with the exception that I havent fitted recoil yet.
Luckly I have a FO Kingtiger to so was helpfull in setting it up . This and my FO one are futor projects . As Im curently out of work Ive left them for now . I do have a FO Sherman to but not thought on what to do with that just yet. But thanks for the tips and links . One wouldnt work tho.

just ordered a darkith battle system from Phil at RCtankwas.com, he says he will post it monday, I am going to fit it to my HL tiger that is running a RX 18 board with fan

Hi great , can I ask how much it costs in total please . Mind you in my current circumstanece I need to be carefull with my money.
