Apologies if this been discussed before, but I thought this video looks interesting. It shows some tank prototypes and concepts - like the tank with jet engines, tank-hovercraft, tank-speedboat, tank that can dig itself underground and so on
Unfortunately the video is in Russian only, but still fun to watch

Apologies for spelling - typing on mobile on the way to work. This keyboard is awful
Jet Engines - the narrative describes the problem of driving on marshy grounds - tanks will brerak the surface with the traks, sink and put belly on the ground. Once this happens, the tank cannot pull itself out any longer - tracks speen free.
Initially they decided to add motors from the from the air to air missile (those tubes they mount on tank). This worked, but one could not control the thrust. (I guess you could not stop the tank, once it is free - a scary thought)

Next, they decided to put jets instead. This also worked and would get tank out of the sticky mud, but fuel consumtion was the main reason it was never introduced
Tank with four tracks in the beggining, was another attempt to reduce ground pressure. As was the hover skirt.
That hovering tank could apparently glide over mines.

Keith, if you are planning to build that four track tank, it is called Obyekt 279 (translated as "Item 279" I guess)

Good luck with this, sounds very exciting

Hi Guys They did fit 2 jet engines to a T55 it had no turret and the engines thrust pointed forward strange set up but it was a great sucsess ,it was used to put out oil rig fires in 1992 after Sadam set the oil fields on fire the put water into the jet wash and it atomisied the water and put the fires out very fast much quicker than blowing them out.
