i bought some heng long metal tracks for my tiger on ebay, when they arrived i was excited to get them on the tank, i had bought the metal gear boxes and metal arms and uprated springs and had fitted them all i just had the tracks to go, while i was measureing the tracks up one track slipped from the wheels and proceeded to carry on on hit the floor after bouncing of my shoe, when i picked the track up it was in two sections, on further inspection i found for links had broken at the hinge point and a small pile of metal bits on the floor, i orderd some more links from ebay which were different but managed to make them fit, while putting the tracks on the tank i broke three more links where the pin locks into, finally i managed to get the tracks on and tried the tiger in the garden, first running on grass then on to a tarmac path, when i had finished and put the tank on the work shop bench one track fell off in bits, i was furrious, after spending a lot of money i have now gone back to plastic tracks, has anyone else had a problem with the heng long metal tracks.

i brought a h/l tiger with metal tracks from dave (forgebear) couple of years back, dipped in vinegar but not for too long, they had a hard life while i owned the tank, they were taken off the tanks so many times while i worked on it, never had any problems with them, i drove that tiger had through mud/water/sand ect never caused problems, you must off had a bad pair................ tip of the day........ buy some new ones from dave!
they wont let you down!

Sounds like you got a cheap dodgy set were the metal is too britle and breaks easily I would contact who you bought them from and see if you can get a refund as they are not suitable fo the purpose they were intended for then get a good set off of Forgebear.

I have a pair of Matorro metal tracks on my tiger and no problem at all - I guess they come from the same mould as Heng Long. I think this might be a relatively isolated case of wrong alloy mix.

Mine lasted really well, but a loose pin snapped one of the retaining loops on one link at Weston, other than that they have been remarkably tough.
