Battleship U.S.S.Texas@ San Jacinto Battle field

Post by Saxondog »

This is just a cool picture of a battle field where the finale battle took place for the Republic of Texas.Yes Texas was an independent Republic for several years. The president of Texas was Sam Houston former Tennessee Senator. The Unique thing about this picture is two fold. The battleship U.S.S.Texas is the last first generation Dreadnought BATTLESHIP in the WORLD. and the Battle field is the place where the Texas Army made up of Tennessee Volunteers defeated the European Trained Army of Mexico, led by a man who thought he was Napoleons reincarnation.Trained by the French. The reason I felt this would be of some interest as the U.S.S.Texas also served with the British fleet in WWI,Under the overall command of Admiral Jellicoe. Texas was their with the Grand Fleet as

the German High Sea's Fleet Surrendered. Our two nations have been Allies every since and god willing will always be.
