Hi All,

Here is a little show and tell report on the new 1/16 Scale WSN Half Track I received this week. The vehicle is a very good quality hobby grade rc model and the toy level electronics work without fault. It drives well, and all in all I was most surprised about how cool this model is.

In the first photo I have shot it with Dullcote and have added a wench cable on the spool and a couple of other usual half track details and will weather it next. The rest of the photos show the M-16 as it arrived out of the box. A down side is that it operates on 8 AA batteries, but I am looking at fitting a 1/16 scale buggy 7.2v battery in this truck. The gun mount works really nicely for rotation and gun elevation. And the model has working head & tail lights and 4 flashing machine guns (I blacked out the MGs leds). The sound effects are, well, toy like, but are passable.

The 2 figures that arrived with the half track, while a touch toy like, have tons of character and look great. They grow on you and I like them a lot.

You need to be careful placing the driver in his seat or you could break the steering wheel, but I suffered no mishaps.

The national markings are beautifully applied and far better than anything I could do. I saved some money on a USA pre-order deal from Phil at rc tank wars and am very pleased with this new toy, though it robbed me of the pleasure of building and painting it, so the joy with this model is running it.

Real nice review. Can you post some close ups of the underbelly? what do you think of the track quality?

OK, here are a few detail pixs.

The prototypical rubber belt style tracks are sturdy, but the the idler adjusters on the model do not work, hence room for aftermarket parts fix improvement (like HL tank fixes). I am guessing the idler downside may cause rough terrain running issues: tossed tracks, but that depends on how one drives too.

The steering servo, drive shaft, differential and boogies all seem to be quality items, similar to Tamiya RTR rc vehicle type rc parts and perhaps just slightly better. The chassis frame rails are metal and again the overall model quality, for under $200.00 (US), is impressive; in my opinion.

Hi very nice next question can this be fitted into the 21st Cent German half tracks ?

A member of my tank club has used the Century 21 Ultimate Soldier, 1/18 scale, WW II German Hanomag Sd Kfz. 251 Half Track as a platform and converted them to rc battle field runners using Tamiya f/o DMD units plus TBU and or other rc electronic systems.

Hi thanks for that mate to be honest I wouldnt gut the US halftrack . But electronics arent my thing . But may be one day I will pluck the courage up and do my one

I've seen rumours elsewhere that somebody is considering 1/16 rtr SdKfz 251's, might be worth hanging on for them
