hi all

is it possible to fit the gun recoil system to the old tam kt ?

I'll let you know tomorrow when i finish mine i started out trying to fit a heng long system but the barrel just keeps falling out so i have now got a Tamiya recoil and am in the process of fitting it, bear in mind i dont like buying stuff so i am using what ever i can find to fit it if it works i will post some pics, if it does'nt i'll be watching this post very closely

seen that there are some recoil systems for ale in japan and there cheap too

if it works i will get a few and retrofit

Iain,these systems in Japan do you have a link? I have the creeping death system,but would like to look into other options for my Jagdpanther.Thanks Blake

Hi Iain I fitted a HL recoil into the Matorro KT ( with a bit of swearing and cursing ) so one should be able to get one to fit the older Tamiya for sure as the Matorro is an almost direct copy of that kit right down to the 2 screw holes on the rear deck to secure the hull to the chassis cross bar. You will have to cut and modify the barrel and mantlet as these were glued in the older kits. Hope this helps, if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Ok i got it fitted and it works ok, sort of the recoil works nice and smooth so im happy with that but i think i need to play around with the wiring because im having to puch and hold the control stick up instead of just giving it a flick if anybody can shed some light on this im all ears

Change of plan although this system worked i could not see anyway of getting the recoil, flash and sound to all work at once like the Heng Long IR tanks, so i scrapped it and am now fitting the Heng Long recoil unit, i have got all the electrical side sorted but i need to make some modifications to the KT gun barrel and elevation pivot point, once i have done this and if it is effective i will post some pics. Im suprised nobody else has not fitted recoil to an old KT, their are plenty of them out there

Just about finished fitting the Heng Long recoil system into my KT now and it all works nicely, all that is left to do now is fit the barrel that the old man just machined for me basically he mated my KT barrel with a Heng Long Jagdpanther barrel and this is the result, simply screws in like a standard Heng Long
