Having looked at some of the builds in the build sections, just wondered what kind of paints you all use?

I personally use Tamiya acrylic paints with an airbrush, its touch dry in minutes, cheap and easy to use with great results.

I would suggest checking out the painting and weathering section before starting a painting project,their are many brands of paint but understanding which type and how to apply the different types is what it really comes down to.I use Testors Model Master Enamel paint,Other use Tamiya Acrylic paint,some use Hunbrol, their are many choices.

I used to use tamiya arcylics on my 1/35 builds but that was a long time ago, i just wondered if anything better was out there now

I've been using the Vallejo Model Air Acrylics. The pigment in them is very fine, and the carrier liquid is very good as well. Once they're dry the paint is very tough, and takes a lot of scrapes without damage.

The Model Air range are slightly pre-thinned for airbrush use, so i'm told.

Hi Rob arcrylic paint is the best to use as it drys quick is tough and dos'nt smell and you can use screen wash to dilute it which works out cheap not like the paint at £125 a litre.

Rob, Stevie makes a valid point as far as thinner and fumes.Testers can be thinned with mineral spirits which is about 8.00per us.quart.Where screen wash is half that for a gallon.And you have to be ventilated to spray Testors enamel because it is oil based.My main reason for Testors is financial,over the years I have been building 1/350 ships and have 50+bottles of paint,so when I started building armor I used what I had on hand.You should still check out the painting and weathering section as the information compiled their covers many aspects of painting. Screen wash?

Yep i asked the same question, but why spend £15 on Tamiya thinners when car screen wash does the same job at a fraction of the price

Yes Rob screen wash with antifreeze you can buy it in asda for £1 for 2 litres and even though its blue it will dilute arcrylic paint without changing the colour even white. when I first started using arcrylics I paid £4.99 at my local model shop for a 250ml bottle not any more.
