Hi all next project started , Stug III ( Another one :/ ) Ive just started tinkering with this . Hi Xrad,
Yer I was impressed with the quality of it . However the crane mounting points look a bit out of place , but Im removing them so its not an issue . The next thing Im looking into is the cast pot mantlet . I saw the link to the German eBay and have asked the guy a question but I think Im going to scratch build my one ? Your Stug is coming on nicely to mate .

Thanks Andy, your too!

Have fun and make it yourself. you could make it out of clay and then cover it with resin/cloth.

even withing a series, depending on which factory built the hull and whcih factory built the superstructure, and the upgraded recalls, there are many variations. You can get away with things like welded frontal armor, but bolted superstructure armor (like mine)

some HL errors:
1)some bolts in wrong places
2) Rubber return rollers for late version , should be metal (but could be rubber on some repaired versions)
3) convoy light glued on backwards
4) driving light on wrong fender?? and not included on later models??
5) there should be 5 (?) crane mounting points
6) crane mounting points should have little drain holes on low side and threaded internally(?) for mounting posts
7) some hatch variations
8) no support tubes between wheel halves (pain to make anyway)
9) rear middle tow hitch
10) gun barrel diameter (no big deal)
11) antenna length and dual mounts
12) some late model have the remote machine gun mount

they do get many other details right like rear wall vent on cabin.

Hi Ive had a go at the pot cast mantlet today . I removed the IR LED and put some masking tape over the hole and the two screw heads , just incase . I then pulled the IR cables back through into the tank . I made the pot mantlet from milliput before this I reduced the mantlet square corners and also removed the front clip in plate . I have also removed the top front add armour plate and replaced the centeral light (?) .Im going to add the extra frontal vertical armour then when its zimmerited ( :/ ) it will be covered . Another thing Ive removed is the incorect jib mounts , the front light and also the mount for the fold down MG shield as Im fitting the remote controled unit.

Andy, lots of pics in Spielberger's Stug III book. Next time it's near my scanner, I will get some to post.
