Has anyone done the cheap muzzle flash on an RX18?

I have added a muzzle flash to an RX14 in the past using this simple trick, and it works just fine.

I now want to do the same with an RX18, without using the HL flash unit, because I want the flash to activate on the fire button.
Does anyone know which contacts to solder the led wires onto, or which pins/socket to use.

i looked at your pics but can;t tell which wires are new and which pins they are soldered to.

same here the information regarding the wires is not very clear

hi brel
the way i go about a muzzle flash is to go to maplin by a super bright led white or red
and wire the led to the main gun firing leads will send some more info

strangely enought that is the way I do mine as well with a micro switch if the tank has recoil so that when the gun recoils and touches the micro switch the LED flashes at the furthest point of the recoil

They aren't my pics, they are the ones that I used when I did it to an RX14.
I was wondering if anyone has done the same with an RX18?
Update - I just tried soldering the muzzle flash to the gun contacts on the 8 pin connector. The muzzle flash then only works on left stick up. The IR emitter works on the K button, so I am trying to get them both working on the button. There must be a way to do this...

There is a way(for the rx18), you have to jump a diode across the 8pin and 5 pin connectors(will fire with the upstick). I posted the schematic in my STUGIII build.
Or you can look it up on RCCommand site.

The bit I am trying to achieve is getting the flash working off the K button.
The reason being that I have a Darkith unit installed, the IR Emitter is activated off the K button, so I need to activate the muzzle flash the same way.
Soldering etc isn't a problem, I am just curious as to what will achieve what I am after. I took a look at the
http://www.rccommand.com/guides/RX18FireMod.php
guide, but all the mods for the RX18 appear to be utilising the left stick up as the firing mechanism, unless I am mis-reading something. I have asked David at Darkith if the unit will only accept the K button signal to activate the IR emitter, and his reply may shed some light on the solution.
Cheers

just curious, Is there a difference to you if IR+flash fires off 'upstick' or 'k' button IF you can get both to work at the same time?

Just got a reply from Dave/Darkith, the dbc/dbu will only work off the K button as I suspected, so I need some way of getting a high intensity LED to light up off the same circuit.
Looking at an RX18, the bottom 8 pin socket is the same as the RX14, I am guessing that is why the 'up stick jumper + diode' trick works to link the controls when the left stick is pushed up. The diode only allows the power to flow one way.
I guess I need a solution that operates in reverse, or some clever soul to tell me which of the solder points on the back of the board are the same as the RX14 points that Joe Castriani discovered when he published the mod on his site.
I tried using the 8 pin gun+/gun- points but the led will only light up on left stick up. It's a bit of a mystery to me.
