HL ariel length?

I am in the process of installing an RX18 and Darkith unit into my T34. I now have three problems.

1. Where does the wire solder onto the receiver board?
2. How long is the wire from the rx to the external ariel.
3. Where did I put that HL ariel that I am sure that I had and put somewhere safe in case I ever needed it?

I am thinking that if I make the wire longer inside the hull then I can mount a shorter on on the external side. There is a ready made hole in the turret next to the commanders hatch, and it is just the right size for the brass spigot that the ariel slides onto.

How do you spell ariel?? :/

Cheers

PS - Why don't Maplins ever stock the parts I need, I drove there today, 2nd time this week, got all the part numbers out of their catalogue...and although their system said that they were in stock...they weren't!! Grrrrr!

I always chop my antenna's down to about 5" with no internal mods and it does'nt affect the range or anything. I also like to fit the brass fitting on the inside of the hull so its out of sight 8)

And here is the back of the receiver board so you know where to solder.
