Hi Guys,

a few of us purchased the Mini Air Compressor AS 18-2. I used mine today and the air must have held a lot of moisture because the filter bowl was constantly in need of draining.

Has anyone figured out how to get into the filter to clean and dry the filter element and bowl. I can do this on the filters at work, but the plastic bowl seems to be fixed into the ally body on mine.

Hi its a problem at this time of the year as there is a lot of dampness in the air there is a small screw at the bottom to drain it which will take most of the water out.

Yup I have done that thanks. I have compressors at work and regularly take the filters out to clean and dry them so I thought that I may have been able to do the same to this one.

The filter is not brilliant and so a little moisture creeps into the air line and so it is possible to get water through the spraygun if you arn't careful.

I find that lowering the painting pressure helps. Obviously the higher the pressure, the more moisture is removed from the air through condensation in the filter, so lowering it seems help eradicate water in the airline. I drain the bowl regularly whilst spraying but once water gets onto this little filter it gets pushed through. So the moral is don't spray on days like today.

I can't remove the bowl as I think it is bonded into the ally casting. That is a shame and spoils a brilliant piece of kit. I have sent a message to the supplier to see if I can buy a second replacement filter or maybe an in-line one.

Hi Its due to the mostture in the air very high humidity this time of year ,to empty filter switch on the compressor and turn the little screw at bottom of filter put a cloth under to catch the spray ,do this just before spraying to make sure you have clean filter when spraying .

Thanks for your reply. I am draining the bowl constantly but I wondered if I could remove the bowl to clean the filter as you can on bigger compressors.

If it isnt possible to remove and clean it, then I will need to but a replacement for when the filter gets dirty as it obviously will in time.

Maybe someone has discovered the secret of removing the filter as quite a few of us have these compressors now.
