War in the Pacific started 68 years ago today for both the United States and Britain, the Japanese Empire attacked Pearl Harbor with devastating effect, they also made landing in several British colonies, war now engulfed the entire world.Today we should remember the thousands of men and women who gave their lives at their post defending our two nations. We should also remember the lesson of appeasement, that same lesson is this very day being ignored by some of our leaders here in America and the UK,A lesson that has been proven to lead to destruction when ignored.I pray for peace, and only wish all our men and women in harms way remain safe, but this current war should be fought to win.And fought with all the power and military force of both our nations.God Bless our troops, keep and protect them from harm.Remember the fallen, but give our troops the means to fight this war to win.

Hi Saxondog ,
Just see your post regarding Pearl harbour and the war in the Pacific . I posted to regarding this , sorry didnt see your post till afterwards . Its seems to get forgot over here , along with what the comenwealth troops did to . However Im a big collector of WW2 US Army and USMC gear . Last year I did a small display in my local museum with the collectors group Im in all about the invasion of Guadalcanal in 1942/43 .I did include some maps that I drew up and helped by my kids to colour in so people knew were Guadalcanal is. Heres a quick picy . All the equipment is original WW2 or WW1 issue the weapons are legaly owned just incase this is comented on . The brown monkey watching you all is my daughters if you can spot him .

Hello Andy, just thought I would mention here in Memphis we had an evening paper years ago.The editor was a Guadalcanal vet know as Elden Whisenhunt he was 17yrs old and arrived with the first Marine DIV,these guy's were tough as nails and went through hell on that god forsaken island, Elden'S daughter went to school with my wife, and we got to know one another pretty well.He fought through out the pacific,he passed away about ten years ago.Knowing Elden was a privilege. We are losing that generation, few are left so their experience in WWII is largely forgotten. The real tragedy is the main Americans who have forgotten the lesson's of WWII are now the politicians running this country into the ground with their socialist idea's.I think the things you are saving is very important, and I applaud your efforts, well done Andy.

Hi Saxondog .
Now that would be a privaligae to of met him . I bet he would have some intresting storys . I have some 4th Marine marked gear but no 1st Marine . Theres a guy a friend of my dads who lives round the corner from me he fought in Korea and was captured by the Chinese . He often tells me some storys . I also used to work with a guy who served in North Africa in the 8th Army as a anti tank gunner hes told me some storys from been on a troop ship that got torpedoed and having a shell explode at the end of the gun barrel , killing to of his mates instently sad tho . And strange as it may seem my dads got another friend who was in the Africa Korps again a anti tank gunner . I love talking to veterans . I met some 101st A/B veterans a few years ago , the guys portrayed in Band of Brothers . But Id love to of met the Marine vet .

I have seen ELDENS dress uniform, after his death his daughter showed it to me and many TIME LIFE MAGAZINES that were his, these she gave me including one with Elden standing beside Merrill Edson,Elden served under this man as one of Edson's raiders, that was a tough bunk of marines. They were not know for catching prisoners, after their first Baptism of fire on Guadalcanal they learned to not take the risk, and really were not their to take prisoners, they were their to kill the enemy and they did that very well.We are a nation of fighters,as are the British. To bad our leaders are not.
