An early version Stug ...

Well it started life as an HL Stug, but that looked a bit common, so I thought I would try changing it into an earlier version. It's pretty close and it's nowhere near finished yet. Sorry about the tracks looking bright orange, they are actually a dark earth colour but my flash seems to illuminate them??

I have taken pics every step of the way, so when it is all complete I will post it all in the build section. I have a load of bits and pieces to stick all over the hull etc, but they will be the last to go on. The current problem is, where do install a sensor box for the battle system? I could go down the RX14/Darkith route for this one, or maybe an RX18, though I reckon the RX14 is more durable. Failing that I can always Elmod it... : )
Fleshy - will sort out a visit, when this project is more complete. Having a job gets in the way of the more important things in life!

Give me a break!!
I thought about the very early short barrelled one as I like that stumpy look, however, although all the Stugs look similar with a quick glance, they are wildly different when you look at the detail. As I was working from an HL Stug I had to go with what was a close match. There are still some aspects that I couldn't replicate due to the way that the HL cabin is designed, but it's pretty close. It would actually have been easier to scratch build an accurate cabin onto a PIII top hull, but hey!
In reality I am working from photo's of a model (
http://www.treefrogtreasures.com/forum/ ... 55&page=12 ), as it was the only way that I could get a 360 degree set of pics all from the same source. Even that model isn't 100% accurate, but again, it's close. Of course, I have to recreate all those little bits and pieces, and add a few of my own, and that is what takes the time.
Some guys on one of the German forums looked at a later Stug on a Panzer IV hull, but that is also a job and a half as the PIII based top hull is not an exact fit.
I will try and get some better pics, most of the detail such as the hinges and roof rivets don't show up too well in the ones that I have taken.

Here are some more pics, still more to do, especially figuring out how to install the battle system, but its getting there.
