Tigers?

Okay here we go:

There are three models of the TIGER 1: Early, Mid, and Late.

I have figured there are also three versions of the Heng Long Tiger 1

Early had the RX-13, no smoke, no sound

Mid had the RX-14, smoke sound

Late has RX-18, IR, smoke, sound, bow MG.

So............

I have a early model of the early Tiger that I want to make into a late Tiger. So I have the parts from the mid Tiger and the early Tiger that can be formed into the late Tiger. Using the best of the mid tiger and again upgrading the early tiger to the mid tiger will also help in building the late tiger from the early tiger. Many part from the early and mid tiger stay the same on the late tiger. However some ofthe mid tiger items could be used on the late tiger and are not on the early tiger.

Now if I wanted to make a mid tiger then I could indeed use parts from the late tiger although it would be not be a late tiger but a mid tiger with late tiger parts, and some early tiger items.

Also if you wanted an early tiger you could also use the parts form the mid tiger and retain the early tiger parts while building an early tiger, and the early tiger would be even better with the late tiger parts.

The beauty of it all is all the features could be used for a late early or mid tiger, so and early tiger need not stay an early tiger but can be a early tiger.

I think I have it straight now......any questions? :haha:

What color would an early Tiger be late in the war? And would a mid Tiger have strips late in the war? What if an early Tiger survived until the mid war period would it look like a late model Tiger that was delivered early? And what color would an early Tiger from the DAK be if it was shipped to Greece and then driven through the Balkens to Russia ,to fight in kursk .Then sent by rail to fight in Normandy ending up back at the factory in Berlin in the final days. You know this is addictive. And if a Tiger falls over in the woods and no one is around... does it make any noise?

I'd assume surviving early Tigers would be upgraded where the parts were available. Im sure i have some reference pics showing Tigers with a mixture of early/mid/late details.

This is the beauty of AFV modelling. The research i've done shows the Tigers would have all sorts of parts, many were sent to the factories to be repaired and they'd have the turrets completely replaced. So you could have an early lower hull with a late turret, or vice versa. Some early turrets were retrofitted with loaders periscopes. Early Tigers sent to the western front usually had the smoke candle discargers cut from the turret, and the fiefel cleaners removed, but the mounting brackets would still be there.
And thats not even getting started on crew 'field mods'! :D Basically unless your modelling a specific vehicle, you can get away with most things, within reason.
Cheers,
Rik

Absolutely agree with your opinion, the Tiger@bovington has the foot step welded to the front track rail, and war pictures of this Tiger show this bracket clearly but I have not seen it on any other Tiger.Sax
