Hi All

With christmas (sorry for using the "c" word)coming up the house has been given a lick of paint (or to be more precise emulsion).

Now Santa will be bringing me a new "Tiki" to play with (this one will be painted in winter camoflague).

My question is can I water down my excess white matt emoulsion and use it as a white wash?

Needless to say I would be finishing the paint job with a few coats of matt varnish

Has anyone tried this or am I just being a silly frugal Scot?

Why not try it out yourself. Get yourself a scrap piece of styrene/plastic and give it a go. Then you can tell us the results and show us the pics.

Hi I think it will peel off myself If you cover the orginal paint with matt varnish ,then paint with emulsion if it dosnt work you will be able to wash off the emulsion.

I agree I think it'll crack and peel off. I white washed the walls in my loft and anywhere it covered plastic pipe work or conduit its eventually come anyway. I think you'd be better off raiding the piggy back and splashing out on a pot of flat white model paint.

So it is true , wire 'was' invented by two Scotsmen arguing over a penny!

Paint it the usual colours then use the whitewash if it does fall off it will add to the look and you won't have th weather it

Thanks for all your advice and wibbly believe it or not i have actually three bottles of acrylic "off white" paint for this job already put aside

Once I have all my Tiki's up and running I will post some pics
