Hi Folks
I have used the search function with little success so can anyone point me in the correct direction please.

I am sure I have seen a mod on the hl recoil unit to make it look correct but I can't find it.....anyone know where I find it please?

Mike

Many thanks for the info fellas. Perhaps I should have been more specific...sorry

This mod looks like using the bb gun to make a recoil unit...and a good idea too.

But I am sure I saw that someone had addressed the problem with the HL recoil unit working back to front.

The one in my Stug is wierd. When fired, the gun slowly goes back, flashes then snaps forward.....this is obviously not correct.

I am sure that I saw a mod on here where someone managed to open up the unit, alter the cam or something and made the unit snap back and slowly restore.

I am trying to avoid buying lots of asiatam recoil units......

Any help is as usual greatfully recieved by an old man......

Mike

Here you are, though I cant figure out either of them. If anyone does this could they post a step by step account of all of the mods, and all of the wiring, showing both where it comes from and where it goes???

Cheers

If you follow the wiring in the diagram you should be OK

The smoker Jack on the HL board provides power to the recoil unit. Negative power is routed through the contact switch on the recoil unit. Then you take the yellow wire and connect it to the same motor pole as the negative from the contact switch.

Done

Adding a resistor will slow down the recoil to make it look and function better

Don't worry about the flash LED. Get the above working first and then tackle the flash.

Ah finally found the thread I remembered hidden in the HL build section by Grompix:

http://rctankwarfare.co.cc/forums/viewt ... =22&t=1084

Its 1/3 of the way down titled Recoil mod and also has a link.

Having been thinking about alternatives for many months, I have decided to take the plunge and try something a little different. I have now ordered a miniauture solenoid, and will see if I can hook this up to create the quick pullback on the barrel, and rig up something (a small RC car damper, or a piece of foam?) to slowly push it forward again.

If the movement on the solenoid is insufficient, I should be able to create a lever to increase it.

In theory it should be very compact and work...but theory is one thing, practice is quite another!
