Ohhhh how deep and twisted the Tiger rabbit hole goes...

Panzer Division Müncheberg was formed in March of 1945. It received last 5 Tiger I's produced. Well more like repaired hulls "Reparlerte Wannen" of the last cobbled together 50 Tiger I's to be produced.

Following are the upgrades done to these hulls-

And for the Repaired Turrets "Reparlerte Tuerme"-

Well I just like obscure colorful subjects with rough edges.

There is the well known Tiger 323-

https://threedbattleart.com/current-pro ... ing-part-3

But like I said 323 is the more known "last Tiger".

A bit more researching and I became engrossed with the Tiger I only known as the "Altoner strasse" Tiger. It had some more unique features than Tiger 323. Here is a good pic of the old girl-

Here we can see a lower hull from about March 43-July43
Mid-late sprockets
Repaired/upgraded turret, Unique from this angle because it features a later commanders copula and the early pistol port And Zimmerit.

Here is a later pic showing the Zimmerit on the pistol port. Now That's unique!

Another angle showing the monocular gunners site-

Another shot showing the upgraded 40mm roof and jib mounts
Image

Another cool detail I found was there was actually direction how to mount the older rubber rimmed wheels combined with the newer rubber saving steel rimmed wheels-

Lots of gears are turning...

Only been about 10 months since Tiger 131 was completed.

Feels like forever.

Was wondering what to do with this one since it ended up on my doorstep.

:D Upon reading this post, I thought, "This reminds me of something?" Well, I found it! It's the famous division, with the Panthers equipped with the "Sperber" infrared targeting system. Here's a link (sorry, it's in French) about the history of this division. I also saw a video on YouTube, a magnificent 1/16 scale Panther model

The very last Tiger 1 that got knocked out in the Tiergarten right by the Brandenburg Gate would be an interesting bookend to your growing Tiger collection. I'm getting the Tiger 1 itch again myself :haha: :haha: :haha:

Yes sir during research I've learned of this. Although there is a debate just how many Panthers actually had the "Sperber" IR system. Ahhhh Hitlers wonder weapons at war. This Axis history forum really delves deeply into a lot of details often missed about this Panzer Gruppe-

Of course there's the obligatory Wikipedia listing to address main points-

Thank you for sharing this I'll peruse casually and try Not to get hooked on a Panther now :haha:

It's a good start.

1 of the 4 now has a developing plan. I'll likely start by March after the Sturmi is complete and keep the Leo working as a side project since it is much less involved at least for now  :haha: :haha:

 Yes that's 323. Although I'm drawn more towards the "Altoner strasse" Tiger as it has more unique features But ya never know... And I do still have 2 more early's to designate. :D
