Radiomaster GX12? Anyone?

Post by MrChef »

Have been doing a good amount of research on a good flexible radio since the the Tamiya Tiger has joined Kampfgruppe Brunner. I've read Rad's article about transmitter radios and he's quite keen on the Radiomaster TX16S back when he wrote the article and I can see the benefits and abilities. I've also looked at the Futaba's, Jumper and other offerings. I am brand new to radios and their abilities so am just scratching the surface and learning as I go.

So after watching multiple videos reviewing many radios the Radiomaster GX12 dual band Gemini-X is the hot new unit to be had-

Granted most if not all videos I watched were from Drone and FPV drivers but the TX16S was never marketed to surface users anyway. And I'll likely not benefit all that much from ELRS but it is the hot new stuff with Gemini-X.

I'm appreciating what I see and hear about the GX12 and that just as the TX16S would provide more than I'd need up front would also grow with my needs if/when I decide to upgrade to an aftermarket board for other functions that I know I will desire.

It ships with ELRS but also offers an add on RM 4IN1 module for other protocols.

So pricing of the GX12 radio, adding the 4in1 module, 5000mah Lion battery, and a receiver is $266 direct from Radiomaster site.

Anyone have experience or opinions on the GX12?

Sorry but dont know anything about Radiomaster transmitters but i do use Spektrum air transmitters for my model ships ,hellis and aircraft

but price of receivers is getting prohibitive these days
But if in future i want to change my tanks transmitters i would use my NX8 and compatable receiver
You could have a look on helifreak.com as theres a few guys on there use the Radiomaster transmitters
hope that helps mate

I'm using the Radiomaster Pocket radio as a budget option, and it's good and comfortable with enough functionality for my needs at the moment. ER Series receivers support Sbus (I use it with the OpenPanzer board), so I don't see any need for the 4in1 module. As everything is controlled via the OP board, I need only one channel, so I'm using the cheapest ER4 receiver (4 channels) and got 3 extra channels to use for FPV or whatever. If you need more, there are up to 8 channels recivers.
