Tamiya Leopard 2A6 tracks, Tamiya Quality,

There are more than a few RC tankers that promote using these Tamiya Tracks on other brands of Leopards. Well after receiving them and taking a look I can understand the hype. They are a much better quality product and design.

The end caps and pins are in fact metal. The track material is a high quality Nylon and plastic with embedded rubber pads. They are closed pin design and move like butter. The plastic provides a lighter weight which should provide better throttle response. Their guide horns are tall promoting better retention. This is one of the main reasons I chose them since there are all those stories of MBT's shedding tracks at the blink of an eye.

The double pin design allows for even more flexibility as well as adding scale fidelity just like the real tracks.

Overall when the price is considered many people choose heavier weight metal tracks of slightly less $money$ to significantly more $money$ but the design and quality of these seem the better option. Especially since I'm not looking to actually increase weight to the Taigen Leo Chassis. It's heavy enough. The Caveat to these tracks is actually sourcing them. They aren't easily found and when they are the price is usually prohibitive. This is where it pays literally to shop around Alot.

Here is another comparison to the stock Taigen full metal, Closed single link pin tracks.

The twin and single track sections are stock Taigen. But their molded pads are metal.

Only Time will tell as my build progresses and the Leo will get put through her paces but I'm certainly satisfied with Tamiya Quality.

While I have bought quite a few Taigen (and Torro) tanks (etc.) from the UK, Germany, and China, I know that for the past year or so the Leopard and a few other tanks are sold by Taigen here in the U.S. Is the Leopard actually sold under the Taigen brand, or are they identified as HengLong? I was supposing that these were HengLong sold by the US Taigen distributer.

Torro/Taigen's Leopard 2A6 is their own product. It doesn't share any parts with the Heng Long tanks unless it's something like a smoker or BB shooter. Torro/Taigen even makes their own branded gearboxes and their own branded turret gear rotation gearboxes. Their turret rotation gearboxes have "Taigen" embossed on them and their gearboxes actually have a slightly different mounting hole location. It's only off by a small amount, but it's enough to notice and for the screws to not go in straight if you install them in a Heng Long tank.

These tracks are a perfect blend of design and choice of materials resulting in a functional yet durable product. I’ve never broke one of these tracks ever and I have them on my Challenger 2 as well. Tamiya’s Abrams track are a similar design though the track pads are subtly different in shape.

Taigen very proudly makes the Leopard 2A6 that they sell. Their lower is exceptional quality, Torro just rebrands it-

The entire lower is fully cast metal.

Here is a video or Eric showing it off when it first went on sale-

Your first link is to the Taigen Leopard.

Your second link is to Taigen Selling Heng Long tanks. They have been doing this quietly for several years now since the TK6.0 series. But more recently are promoting Heng Long Sales albeit with piss poor high pricing.

This is the Taigen Leopard in kit form. It was my original path until the white one was acquired for several hundred beans less.

Here is a link to the Taigen Leo build manual. You will see the difference-

Mr C. It looks like you have acquired the last pair of tracks from TTP. I have just been on their web site and it show them out of stock. Good price though.

I guess it was meant to be then. Yes not only did they have them in stock but their price was significantly less than Axel's which was one of the only other dealers to have them in stock to sell and ship.

Yes, I saw that Taigen claims the Leopard as their own, distinct from the HengLong RTR tanks they have been selling for a while. I thought Taigen/Torro might go kaput altogether. I see that Torro is selling the same kit. I have a winter Leopard already, but were I to want another, it would be the kit.
