Could someone with a Tiger I, Panzer III, Panzer IV or Stug get a measurement for me please ? Its the short shaft variant.

I need to know the maximum width of the gearbox with the two halfs moved close together. I think the Whippet is going to be fairly tight to get a Heng long gearbox fitted.

Hello, are the shafts long or short? The dimension between the two boxes remains the same; the box is 25 mm wide and the motor is 40 mm, which makes 65 mm, not counting the motor's electrical terminals. I hope this answers your question.

if you need something a bit narrower, 360 motors are an option I have used in the past.
(but not 370's, they have a different shaft diameter and mounting hole spacing)

Thanks Tiger, was thinking about that but wasn't sure what size the motors were. What are standard, 480s ?

I would say most gearboxes come with a 380 motor.

380's are indeed the standard in Heng Long gearboxes.
