Taigen Sherman 76 question

Anyone done one of these with the muzzle brake removed which I like better? If so how did you cover the threads on the barrel end with a collar? Not a Sherman guy but these are nice running tanks but expensive and I have a line on one for a good price

I'm the furthest thing from a Sherman guy but IIRC there was an end cap threaded on the end where the brake would be. I think it's visible in some pics, but I don't save too many Sherman pics. Just useless information clanging around in my Noggin... :haha:

Yes that is the conundrum. I just wondered if there is an aftermarket end cap. All the early ones that I would like to do haven't got the muzzle brake. Not a Sherman fan (traumatised my first year in the club battles when all the really good guys would have a Sherman team and us newbs would be the Germans and just get shot up :haha: :haha: :haha: ) but they are a huge hole in my collection along with a Stug. Both would be nice winter projects

I'm sure you could fab an end cap from some aluminum tubing from the hardware store.

Heck these guys had a challenge renovating this one back to period look-

Thanks. Very good article I guess I could just ghetto one out of plastic or aluminum tube. I'm by no means a perfectionist as long as it is roughly the right look :haha: :haha: :haha:

After glossing over the second link there's entirely TOO MANY little details to bother to worry about for a tank I'm not interested in. It's sheer luck that I do remember anything about them other than they're predominantly green.

could you not just file/grind the threads off ?

I have heard there were over 180 variants. A rivet counters wet dream

no there is a collar that is a larger diameter than the barrel
