When Using New Tracks

When fitting new tracks, the sprocket drive wheels are an obvious choice to check for compatibility, but make sure to also check the idler wheels... I tried to put some Taigen tracks on my Mato Tiger & although the sprocket meshed with the track perfectly, on the first trip across the floor it left sliced-up rubber tires in its wake! After inspecting, I discovered that the clearance between the 2 rows of 'teeth' on the Taigen tracks is a fraction narrower than that on the Mato ones, so the teeth were rubbing against the tires passing between them; first clue to what was happening was that I could see the tracks 'binding' & getting stuck when going around the idler wheels, so the clearance was too narrow for the idler wheel width. Had I tested that out first, I would've saved myself some tires
