Not sure under what category I should start this thread, under '3D Printing' or 'Larger Scale Military'.
I'm 3D printing/building the Renault FT17 designed by Luboš Hort in 1/10 scale. The model is well designed with just a few minor inaccuracies or questionable design decisions.
I started from the easiest part - the hull.
The hull plates p[rinted from ABS plastic, screwed internally, and glued together. Small parts printed from PETG.

Some close-up details. I added magnets to hold the top of the hull above the engine. Also, I modified the exhaust pipe and added a brass tube to have engine smoke.

I slightly modified the central engine hatch to make it similar to the real one.
Additionally, I added some interior details to the side hatches, mainly to make them fit and hold better.

As for motors and gearboxes, Luboš designed the tank to be used with 35Kg 360 servos.
I'm not sure about that. It seems that HL gearboxes would fit too, but I already printed the hull and don't want to redesign and reprint it.
To make the bottom plate and the servos bracket detachable, I put some threaded brass inserts into the plate.
For the final setup, I'll replace the ABS gear cogwheels with Nylon ones.

In parallel, I am setting up and testing electronics. I want to use the openPanzer board with the Radiomaster Pocket radio, and dasMikro as the sound card.

Spend the last couple of days designing and making a 2" speaker with a passive radiators and an 18W amplifier. I've got it too big for FT17 with the box size 80x70x60mm. With 1.5" passive radiators, I should be able to fit it into a 60x60x50mm box. This one will go into the Panzer III.
