The old HL's had then screws above the track so you had to take the tracks off to get to them. If you can't see any obvious screw holes then look there.

2 screws at the back, 2 in the middle, 1 at the front. tracks off for the 2 in the middle and if you look at last pic you have to remove some parts from the top to get at the other 3

Thanks guys. Secret revealed. A vacuum and heaps of cotton tips to remove years of dust and tobacco odour. Some oil and a small amount of grease to cogs and all seems good. Cheers Recruit Mac

Yay! Mac1962: it's good to see your success. I remember the first time I tried to open one of the early Tiger 1 with the hidden screws. I had slivers under all my fingernails. And a tip of the hat to John1970 for helpfulness.

Front air filter is easy to pop off, but be careful when prying off those two 'fuel caps' in the back, since they are easy to bugger up if they don't play nice when you try to get under them with the wrong tool... I suggest using a spudger

Good grief: I had to look that one up, too :

Ha! It does sound a bit like an insulting piece of slang, doesn't it?
