All new to me

Post by Neil64 »

Hi I am Neil been into RC for a long time but never had a tank , I have helicopters, drones , 4x4 off road racer I just fancied some thing a bit different so I got a 1:16 Heng long challenger 2 Pro in camo

Already had a problem were the metal drive hub screw was not tight enough and this let the hub rub on the inside of the side panel , so I stripped it and put lock tight on any screw that's going into metal
I fancy doing upgrades so we're do you guys buy your hop up parts things like cannon flash and smoke unit metal road wheels etc
Kind regards Neil

I'm also new here and currently looking at the same tank as you've got. Apart from the hub screw issue, was everything else all okay?

I've just joined too, also with an HL Challenger 2. (Mine hasn't arrived yet.) I have a stock of HL tanks from between 05 & 10 I've just dragged out of my loft. All busted 🫤

Depending on the damage, they should be repairable and upgradeable.

Hi guys that was all I found wrong , I got the pro version which has metal gearbox ,tracks, drive hub , idler gear , when you get. your tank I would if it a pro version lock tight the screws that are on the drive hub and idler before you run it , I only used mine for 10 minutes and that was long enough to come loose and do damage just glad it can't be seen

Welcome to the forum Neil.

Our resident challenging Challenger guy is Mater rat. I'm sure he'll stop in soon. He's got plenty of experience to share.

Barrel smoke/flash is a great and addicting mod and virtually plug and play. If you're handy with your other RC's then it's a straight forward mod.

Welcome. Tanks aren't finely crafted supercars. They have paint runs, nics, ugly welds, dings and dents. It's all part of their character. Run it, break it, fix it, run it, and break it again. All of these tanks require maintenance at some point just like any RC vehicle.

Neil64, your experience with RC will be a great advantage, and I see that you have already dug in and are even helping Minidaz and Zippy. That's great! I have a Taigen Challenger II that just a month ago I upgraded to the Taigen V3 system. The HengLong Challengers you three have are likely with newer HengLong electronics, better for control (especially, but not only, for turning and low speed), but I like the Taigen V3 sound system. I, too, am hoping Meter Rat will be alone a.s.a.p. as he's a friendly, helpful nut despite his Tiger-o-phobia. He's also responsible for my drunken wandering on the street of Glasgow, thousands of miles from my home.
