What Batteries.

So about to buy my first RC Tank. Looking at the batteries. I see they come with Lithium iron battery. I race Touring cars and use @ cell Lipo batteries.

What batteries are people using and is the battery size in dimension the same across the 1/16 scale range?

Many thanks

I use 2s 5000 mAh soft case LiPos in most of my tanks (some specific ones have 3s). That size will either fit or can be made to fit in most tanks I think. My smallest is a Sherman, and I have a 5000~ mah 2s LiPos in most in there without having to cut anything out to make space.

I used either a 2S Li-Ion 18650 based battery pack similar to the stock Heng Long with a higher MAH rating or a 2S2P (2 serial, 2 parallel configuration) Li-Ion 18650 based pack depending on space. Really a 3S can be used, but that's running on the ragged edge of the Heng Long motherboard tolerances. It's supposed to be able to hand 12V, but I think if someone ran it that high a person might want to put a fan on it. JMHO.

The vast majority of my tanks are big ones with lots of room so I've gone to these-

I got them from Motion RC

The smaller tanks I have I still run the 1800 stock HL batteries.

There are several different battery sizes. Here's an example of different Lion batteries and sizes at motion-

But there are plenty of people who run Lipo's, Meter rat comes to mind  I also have the big old Nimh batteries from some Taigen tanks but don't use them much since I've replaced them with the big Lion batteries.

I do indeed run LiPo batteries.

I also run 3S, in my Challenger, and Leopard 1, on the odd occasion. I find any that fit in cars will fit tanks, they are all a similar dimension. Tanks can be more flexible in what is installed. All the cars I have, mostly Tamiya, the battery box dictates the shape.
