BARGE WITH A CHARGE - 146th Engineer Combat Bn, Normandy June 44

Hi you all,

Here's my latest release and a first dio in my entire and complete life of me.
For my dio, I was very freely and vaguely inspired by this famous photo, from an equally famous report on this emblematic crossroads.
The decoration of the latest DÈS jewel is therefore "BARGE WITH A CHARGE" which was the vehicle of Lt. Colonel Carl J. Isley, commander of the 146th Engineer Combat Battalion, one of the very first units to land in the first minutes on Omaha Beach in support of the 1st Infantry Division.
For his action, he will be decorated with the Distinguished Service Cross.
And it is also one of the units mentioned by a plaque on the 5th Engineer Special Brigade monument overlooking WN62.
And hell no! In Normandy, there were not only the 82nd or the 101st Airborne! Crazy, isn’t it?
Thanks for looking aaannnd...
Cheers from the parish of Abbot Launay.

Yes! That's a great diorama. Will you put it in a contest alongside the photo of the prototype?

The Weasel is one of my long-long time favorites. There was a Monogram kit in the 'sixties, repopped now and again ever since. I loved and and it was one of the first models I built 14 years go ( 8O ) upon retirement. OOOOH to have an RC or just a static 1/16 weasel.

This dio is going to the model contest this week-end in the Tank Museum in Saumur, France.
May you wished to build this kit, the French craft brand is selling it. See http://deskit.online.fr/01_systeme/page ... e_page.htm

I would guess that you are at Saumer right now. I hope you bring home a prize, or at the least enjoy yourself and bring home more great kits to build. You are obviously quite skilled at modeling.

On Thursday after seeing the photo of your diorama, I immediately found the deskit web page listing the M29 for sale for 240.00(€)TTC. With postage and tariffs, the price to have one here in the U.S. would be discouraging. I have bookmarked DesKit in the hope that someday I might afford a 1/16 Weasel. The kit looks as if it is 3D printed. Are the tracks, sprocket, idler and road wheels fixed in place, or do they move (albeit not by RC, obviously)?

As ths kit is actually... a kit, all the parts are separate and need to be built.. separately.

Your diorama is really superb, having seen it in real life this weekend.
disappointed that your category only got 2 medals out of 3 like the others

Ah, the difference between bronze and gold is overestimated. ;) I admire your diorama, Manu-Military. I wish I could be so skillful and clever.
