Howdy from Calgary Alberta Canada!

Growing up on military bases around the world, it's not hard to understand why I love RC planes , tanks, and cars. But having a family ate into "playtime", so I haven't used an RC vehicle much in the past 20+ years.
Yesterday I found a VS tank pro 1/24 scale Leopard 2A6 at a thrift store for $5. It was so well detailed and in such good shape I had to bring it home...especially since that's also Canada's MBT in the field. Unfortunately, no remote control, so I need some help. I started surfing the net, and found this group that looks like the best forum I've found to date for friendly banter and helpful tips.
So without jumping into the deep end of the pool, I'm looking for tips to find a replacement remote, and/or a budget friendly mod to pair a new circuit board and controller. I'm reasonably handy with a wrench and a soldering iron, so I can probably handle it myself. But I need to groups knowledge and wisdom to get me started. Please comment away, I look forward to chatting with everyone!

Hello and welcome from Argyll and Bute. I am sure some will be along in the near future, who can assist with your query. In the meantime we like pictures. Maybe one of the modern systems will fit?

I think you might fit in here... What banter?
Do look the tank over well and see if you can find markings or such to help us identify what you have. There is a "Smaller Scale" section below;
viewforum.php?f=128 that you might skim through and perhaps you'll be able to narrow it down (and likely see the works of those that will probably help with your question).
Welocome to the forum Gascan.

Here's a couple pics, including a screenshot of the remote I need to replace.

Hello! VS tanks can be quite nice. So as to keep some limit on my addiction, I gave two smaller scale tanks to another ace
modler here on RCTW. (Given the intentional misspelling of "modeler," I may have just got his attention to this thread: he's among the small scale wizards.)
Perhaps another way to go would be to get a relatively inexpensive transmitter that could be "bound" to your Leopard. That way you would be all set to get more (and more and more) tanks in 1/24, 1/35, 1/16, 1/8, 1/6 STOP

Welcome from Ontario!
My memory is saying VSTanks is like Heng Long--you'll need their brand Tx to control the tank. They come up on ebay so that might be your best option. Note that my memory can be faulty...
Even if you can't get it operational, it's a nice desk guardian for $5!
As HDP (Herr Doctor Professor) says above, Modler should be along shortly to get you on your way.
Mike.
