Aloha!

Hi,
Just joined these forums and wanted to introduce myself! Obviously hailing from Hawaii and hoping this might trigger other enthusiasts that live here to reach out to me, as we (my friends and I) are wanting to start an RC Tank combat club out here.

About myself, 35 years in uniform and retired now. Not the same uniform mind you, but military or para-military all the same.
Though fascinated with armor my entire life, I was never assigned to a tank unit. Just infantry assignments until I became an attack helicopter pilot.
So I know an awful lot about the real one (like how to destroy them lol) but nothing about the RC side.

For RC I am all over the hobby with planes, boats and cars both on and off-road. Even playing with an RC motorcycle now between flights at the field!
This is a love and fascination that goes back many many years, back into the 70’s actually.

I’ll be asking questions and learning a lot from you guys, my appreciation and gratitude is offered beforehand :)
Thanks!
Markus

Welcome to the forum Markus. We have a member on Oahu called Sassgrunt. He just might be along with a hello. I'll send him a PM so he sees this.

Thanks MrChef for the welcome! Cobra’s actually, every model (flat plate 20mm S Model, round canopy mini gun &40mm).

Your right…I completely forgot to mention the armor I was looking into.
I have been leaning into Taigun/Torro since they appear to be middle of the pack concerning price and features.
So far I ordered a Torro Sherman 76mm from Motion RC and a Mark V from Taigun.
Figured they would make a good start.

Hullo, and welcome from Argyll and Bute, in Scotland. Helicopters eh! The most scary, and pointless means of flight. Ever. Only been in one once, out to an oil rig in the North Sea. Like landing on a 50p coin, in a force 8. Never again.

Good Morning and Welcome from the High Bastions of the Southern Colorado Rocky Mountains.
Always good to hear from the Islands. Having you here may drag Sassgrunt into more Tank commo.
regards,
Painless

Welcome from somewhat-less-temperate Wisconsin. I have two friends who flew: one a Huey in Vietnam and a longstanding award-winning modeler. The second who flew the Apache (I hope I have that right) in Desert Storm. The first, retired now, went on to lift air-conditioners, etc., onto roofs, etc, and then a rescue pilot for a hospital; the second an airline pilot who then semi-retired to rescue and then retired. Have you found Sassgrunt yet? I don't know which island he is on; maybe just his own.
