Hugill big cat rescue/rehabilitation King tiger!

Post by tomhugill »

Hey folks,

A slightly less bedraggled entry into my big cat rescue.

Tamiya king tiger, actually built ok and mechically working pretty well.

The finish isn't to my taste and the will be where I concentrate.

My starting point

First order of business remove tamiya zim. I've found like any other tamiya decals re best way to do this is with a heat gun..

Etc voila!

Next order of business is proper zim! I've got some atak stuff off forgebear as I've always been a fan of how that transform as a tank.

Dave Taylor does a really nice printed set of driver and radio operator hatches for the KT. So I've added those too.

A bit of cleanup needed to get rid of the fdm printing lines but I think looks pretty good!

I'm going to be super detailing this one so I've got some schumo cable and barrel cleaning rod holders, schumo mesh grills, will be looking to add some etch bits with the voyager basic kt set, proper mg34 and mount, working head and convoy lights, antenna, extinguisher etc etc hopefully this should be fairly straightforward forward. Not sure on camo scheme yet but I'll figure that out once it's done

Awesome Mr Hugill. King Tigers are a favorite of mine. You should be commended for the the tanks you have rescued breathing new life in to them .Fantastic finished products. The hobby is lucky that you and Mr Bix run a RC Tank ambulance service.

Really looking forward to see all the stuff you do to this KT. I have 2 Tamiya KT (one with Atak zim amd one without) and while they were annoying to get stuff like the turret rotation working flawlessly they do look great. Do you have any finished images of your Tamiya JagdPanther rescue. That inspired me to tear mine down and rebuild and repaint it and I really enjoyed the end result

Thank you for the kind words guys. The tiger tow cables needed a little shortening but are working ok! Need to do the other side now. Got some bits and bobs comming from forgebear including the voyager photo etch set which should be funImageImageImage

Hey folks, a bit more progress. Done the cable clamps and hangers on the other side, some handles for the hatches, fuel breathers, pointless mg34, 3m antenna from mk modellbau.ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage
