Replacing stock MG with metal MG

Hello everyone,

My DAK Tiger is progressing nicely, but slowly. I'm seriously considering replacing the stock MG with a metal version.

Before I get crazy preforming surgery on the inner MG housing, has anyone done this before? How might I remove the stock MG?

Note: Tank is the 1/16 scale Heng Long Tiger 1.

Included is a photo of the inner part of the MG housing.

Thank you

The Tiger 1 had an armoured barrelled MG34 in the radio op position as well as often carrying another armoured barrelled mg34 in the turret, late model Tiger 1s carried an armoured barrel mg 42 in the 2 positions. You can buy "ABER" mg34s and mg 42s from www.forgebeartanks.com.uk

I used to feel like I was violating the tanks when I was disassembling them. Now I can strip a Heng Long down to a basket of parts in less than 10 minutes. What I'm saying is I used to be overly delicate.

To remove the HL MG from the hull it's just pulling the LED bulb from the inside. It's held with hot glue which isn't as bad to remove as the "other" glue they slather all over the rest of the model sometimes.

Here's a link to My Tiger where I addressed one way of doing it. I didn't Choose the Brass Uber Aber Barrel, I chose the Taigen metal barrel that has the cool flash-
