About an hour ago the electricity failed, Just for less than 5 seconds BUT I have spent this hour rebooting the computer and the talevisions, resetting the clock on the Microwave, adjusting the central heating timer, resetting the Answerphone and goodness knows what else,
When I was a boy my mum would send me round to our next door neughbour for a £1s worth of shillings for the meter and all was well but now it's the end of the universe,
That might be a minor exaggeration
It does not help when mentioning this foolishness an overly smartass grandchild piped up with "it's Power outages Granpa" I somehow restrained myself from NO IT's F****** NOT Just in time,
The little darling doesn't know better BUT SHE SOON Will

I hate meters, fortunately when ours goes I don’t have to reset anything as it’s all analogue and I don’t keep my computer or printers at home

I have never had power outages, BUT, I power computers, TVs and other electronics through the UPS
This device smooths out surges in the network (and everyone has them) and makes it possible to close programs when the power goes out for 20 minutes.... and this depends on the lead battery in the device, in my country house I have a large battery from a truck, theoretically from the UPS you can watch TV for up to 6 hours and most importantly the refrigerator with beer works...

Especially after the Y2K nonsense, some people in my area (where power outages were once rather frequent compared to much of the rest of the U.S.) bought diesel- or gasoline-powered generators. Pavel, your solution looks to be much more in my budget range.

We had poweroutages a lot like 2 years ago, fortunately (or actually surprisingly knowing Rosseti) the electricity company repaired a lot and now it is less common. Nevertheless I have 2 small UPS's, one for the router and the NAS (Network attached storage) and one for my 3dprinter

Oh the 3D printer - I feel your pain!

Since we live in the Hinterlands and have for some 9 years now, all PC, Work Laptops and peripherals are on 5 UPS'. Power is through an antique - style power poles setup. Works well for the area until a drunken sot drives his or hers truck or RV into one of the poles. Fortunately, this is a rare thing as Designated Drivers are a Thing even up here.
