Hello after 10 years.
I was out of rc tanks for about 10 years. My last tan was a Wittman;s Kursk Tiger.
Last year i decided to make another project, this time with my favorite tank.
I was going to make Tamiya KT but the 7.0 Hl sound is nowadays better than Tamiyas, very simillar with Sammour KT, so i've bought much cheaper basic version of Heng long with plastic tracks, steel gearbox and 7.0 electronics.
From the electronic side my plans weren't very advanced. I was going to switch from bb's to recoil ( i,ve chosen asiatam version).
Main goal was to transfer heng long body from toy to model. As you can see now , aber pe parts were installed and basic voyager set. I also added welds and worked with cast steel surfacce.
I have to change all heng long flaws, like kugelblende ( works still in progres) , welds, turret front etc.
Im making Kurt Sowa;s KT 222, destroyed in Stavelot, there are many photos and films of this tank. Its mid version ( produced about seetmeber- october 1944) , without zimmerit,

THX a a lot:) After taking photos, ive realized how many flaws ive made. Yestereday i've made correction of insert of kubelblende and know it lokks much better, weldings are quite thick and should be also changed

The well know video film of 222 moving thru Tondorf has him astride the mantlet not in the cupola

Lost an arm in Normandy only 4 months earlier!
222has some guards missing and apparently a different factory paint scheme one each side of the tank !
Further adding mystery to it .

Ive been to Stavelot and mooched around the area of the pictures from back in the day.
Not sure what I was expecting but the feeling of then & now was quite profound.

Yes 222 is famous it was filmed at least three times, ive bought decals for this tanka few weeks ago, but now im thinking about Hantusch's or Dollinger's Tigers lost in La Gelize but decals are hard to find for those tanks.
Scheme on 222 was standard ambusch isnt it? . There is only left side of the tank seen on pictures, so where did you find info about diferenet types of schemes?
As i wrote before i made a correction of kubelblende here are some photos including aber mg34. You can see also aber antenna, asiatam recoil.

I've seen this picture. I asume it was taken a few months after destroing 222. Perhaps even after war. Tank was staying there long time. As you can see there are no signs of snow ( perhaps photo waa taken on spring) and track links, are missing ( there were present on the turret on previous photos taken in winter a few days after leaving the tank). Perhaps tank was sprayed by locals or us soldiers, weather impact is also vissible. So in my opinion this picture is not a good example of scheme. There is a pic where tank is quite new and pattern is clearly vissible, but only left side and front ( tank is on transport tracks and doesnt have number 222, only cross). Im painting pattern with sharp edges all over the tank ( is a bit of pain with masking comparing to hand spraying). Here are some pic afther oxide primer ( thin layer so previos heng long pattern is visible).
