Hi all!

I started off with a Heng Long Panzer IV (afrika korps version) ages ago. Came across some interesting static models (RFM) and the spark was rekindled. Hoping to get a HL Tiger 1 (metal wheels etc.) and looking for suggestions.

What suggestions would you be looking for?

Hello! The HengLong Tiger I with upgrades is a fine choice and quite popular so there are all sorts of upgrade goodies available. I suggest that you consider, too, a Taigen/Torro (both the same) Tiger I. It runs well (though not as smoothly as the newest HengLong), sounds a bit better, and is generally of a bit better quality. Just a suggestion. And, indeed, we don't mind pictures of your PzKfw. IV. I just finished up a Taigen version, nothing fancy at all: viewtopic.php?t=36196&hilit=Desert

Thanks a lot! It seems I didn't get notifications of all the posted responses or missed the email Just turned on notifications. I found some Pz IV pics, but it seems I need to upload them elsewhere and link to it.

Initially I was thinking about building something, hence the thought of an RFM static model. However, that would bore me and would prefer RC.
So the questions would be
1. Are there any buildable Tiger 1 RC kits from any of the manufacters?
2. If I go for an HL, I believe v7.1 is the board I need to find.
3. I was thinking of getting the metal road wheels version - or metal track + sprockets is good enough?
4. I believe aliexpress/toucan are the cheapest sources?

Yes, you can load photos directly to RCTW

1) keep the size of the photos (in Kilobites) down
2) click on the "Full Editor & Preview Button just below the place where you type in a post
3) a bluish area opens up below the place where you type in a post with "Options" and "Attachments" tabs at its top
4) click on "Attachments"
5) click on "Add Files"
6) your file folder will open; go to the photo you want to upload, double click on it
7) you will be back on the RCTW page with a "Place inline" box to the right of the name of your file; click on place inline

It takes a little bit of practice, but you will quickly learn how to size and place files just where you want them. (Even I can do it. )

Your questions:

1. Yes, Torro offers a Tiger 1 as a kit: https://www.torro-shop.de/1-16-RC-Kit-Tiger-I Other sellers in the UK and Germany may offer the same kit.
2. If you are thinking of a ready to run HengLong, then chances are it will have TK 7.0, good enough for ready to run, and with correct Tiger I sound, it's HengLong at its best.
3. So much depends on how, where, and how much you want to run the tank and how much to spend. Plastic works just fine for an occasional putter in the house. I try for metal suspension, sprockets, idler, and road wheels, but for the little and careful use my tanks get, such upgrade isn't even necessary.
4. Cheapest is not always best. What is more, there isn't really all that much variation in price if you want a new ready-to-run tank. So much depends on where you are in the world. I live in the U.S. and have used Toucan and Motion RC. If I lived in the UK I would (more often) use Forgebear and Haya. In Germany, I would (more often) use any number of sellers, especially Licmas and Torro, but others, too.
