Yeah, I hope spares will be available to purchase and that they do fit the A6.

Andy's Hobby Headquarters here in the U.S. (so presumably UK, too) is advertising for pre-orders of this and two more 1/16 static kits: an M3 Halftrack and a German anti-tank gun. We are awash in riches with empty pockets.

Looks like all-new turret and hull upper pieces built on familiar mechanicals. It should be good news to existing 2A6 owners that parts will continue to be available to keep their tanks running.

Two of my 2A6 are left and right of 20 years old, and the other is easily over 10. I've started to notice structural stress cracks in load-bearing components.

I do wonder though, if Tamiya is introducing new electronics with the 2A7V though

Seems better detailed, and with the coveted metal swing arms. Added the pintle MG, which was very needed on the 2A6.

I actually went to have a look at the actual tanks themselves, and the 2A6 really does have a lot less greebles than 2A7. 2A6 is essentially a 1992 2A5 upgrade, while the 2A7 is a 2014 tank, so a gulf of 2 decades seperates them. I'd say the only advantage the 2A6 has are the turret baskets to throw more detailing in, but the 2A7 does look much better with all the added details.

Very smart move on tamiyas part, given the 2A6 pretty much has no problems other than the plastic swing arms cracking if you overtighten.

Sucks for tamiya 2A6 owners like me, but what can you do.

I don't know if it sucks because Das Werks announced that static 2A7 the same weekend at Nuremberg. And at the fairly large scale of 1/16 it isn't impossible to rebuild your tank to another variant by stripping, grinding or cutting off parts to fit aesthetic replacements to make the tank you want. And if its merely the suspension arms, heck, you don't even need to remove the hull top to fit aftermarket arms from AFV, DKLM or King Kong.

Is there a date? OMG, I can't wait!
