RC Tank Warfare community hobby forum

Hi everyone! I joined the forums as I am getting back to things that interested me as a kid and that is modeling of all sort. I have never had much talent or patience for painting the kits, so when I got back to the hobby after a long break, I mostly focused on Cobi brick models, which I continue to build with a passion. My interest is mostly limited to the interwar period and WW2. With time however, a vision of trying out an RC tank for my 40th birthday is getting more and more traction and I am not that far way from that day... I guess it's relatively safe for a midlife crisis?

In any case, I am here to read about the topic, explore options and make the decision, since I have this unfortunate issue of looking for something probably from the inventory of minor Axis powers - not a common thing in the readily available store models, so I'll probably need to do some serious digging.

I'm based in Poland, but I guess these days the distance is not that big of a deal. In fact I was drawn to the forums as one of the topics on custom builds was already something that peaked my interest, but I am open to suggestions and options, since I'm in no rush to make the decision.

I've got 20 years on you and I too had little patience for painting but...

These large scale tanks, especially the one color jobs are pretty good for boosting your talents. And they are armor not Ferraris so they give more flexibility to flaws in the paint job.

These tanks also are pretty easy to modify into unusual versions of the base platform. Also I'd recommend a read through the 3D section for some odd tanks. One thread in particular is loaded with "3D models to print": viewtopic.php?t=32236 that thread will keep you busy for hours if not days (great work Jee)!

Greetings, Tassadar! You and some of your fellow countrymen always seem to me to be modelers I envy. Coming back to modeling after some years away is an experience many of us have enjoyed, especially since I can keep learning and developing skills even in old age. Don't be afraid of painting: ask questions here on RCTW and show off your accomplishments. Remember, almost anyone here on RCTW can outdo me.

Hey, I'm past my mid-life crises and moved onto the end-life crises. Yeesh, that sounds worse than I meant it to be...
Italian and Japanese Second World War stuff for your mid-life crisis (MLC) is pretty thin, but if you get into 3D printing (MLC #2) it opens up the market a bit more. And cheaper than hair plugs and a Maserati!

I have a Tiger or 3, I like that there is a massive amount of upgrades available for them, I compare them with Suzuki Bandit motorcycles, I have never seen one that is standard, all having been modded, or plain tarted up.
As to a mid life crisis been there done that and am up to my shoulders in my second childhood

Midlife crisis? I think this is my third one so far. Much more affordable and manageable than tracking sports cars. Thank God I have an understanding wife.

I'm looking to start with something pre-built as I've got other related hobbies and don't want this idea to be a flash in the pan, but it also seems a logical expansion, or branching out a bit alongside the brick modeling I'm into right now. The idea is to get one of those niche vehicles I always liked first, so it would then be not only look and drive nicely, but also motivate me to try out some things of my own.

For now I'm taking this one step at a time and the forums do look like a goldmine of ideas and inspiration.

Well, in my case getting back to the whole modeling thing is kind of my wife's fault, as she bought a plane model which then made me discover Cobi brick kits and from there this gained traction.
