Greetings from Canada

Hello Tank forum,

I just purchased for my 15 year old son a Panzer 3879 RC tank for Christmas. He was overjoyed, and I managed to acquire awesome Mum badge for getting him the best present ever. The problem is his tank does not shoot the pellets. He is a bit disappointed. I contacted via email RC Pro (Canada) where I purchased and I am waiting for a reply. I did notice their return exchange policy where the item has to be returned brand new in an untouched box, which worries me. So I don’t expect much of a response/action from the company. Which is why I joined here with the hopes this is a reoccurring problem in that tank and someone can direct me to a previous discussion thread. I did search up Panzer 3879 but didn’t see anything. Any help you can offer would be appreciated.

Helen

Just the basics, is there a switch under a turret hatch? Is it on? Does the tank make a motor gear sound then a whack (attempting to shoot)? Does it do the cannon sound and track recoil?

Hi Ecam,
Thanks for your response. The tank doesn’t make a motor gear sound or track recoil, or cannon sound, it just doesn’t do anything. It is like it is not connected. Did not see a switch under turret. But will have a serious look for an obscure switch.

Greetings. Where in Canada are you located? If Ecam's solution doesn't work and RC Pro doesn't come through and you are in the GTA I'm sure somebody in our club could easily fix it for you. Actually everybody immediately bins their HL airsoft because we are strictly IR so I'm sure you could find a donor for free. I have a few myself but they are Taigen and I'm not sure if HL uses the same ones

Not sure which version you have...

Some require two buttons to be held at the same time. If it drives, turret turns, barrel raises then the tank should be working. It may be a connector has come loose from the MFU (receiver - brain of the tank). I don't own a panther yet so I'm not sure how many screws are on the bottom holding it to the upper. Usually the hull screws are recessed an inch or so from the bottom, the exception is the very front one (if equipped) are near the surface. If you decide to open it (fairly easy) we will help you get it back together if you run into an issue. The MFU might be marked with 6.0 or 7.0 if it is a newer release.

The fact that it doesn't attempt to shoot or make the cannon sound leads me to think it is a loose connector.

Hi Panzermechaniker,
I am in the GTA! I have to laugh I needed my son to decipher your message! Wasn’t sure was IR and HL meant! I will try tomorrow searching for the switch, I will, fingers crossed, hope RC Pro techs can provide some direction and if not I might take you up on that offer of assistance. Thank you so much! My son is very happy. I told him to check out this forum as I think he will learn a lot. He wants to upgrade his tank, so this forum is an encyclopedia for the tank aficionados.

Ecam,
If loose connector would that be hard to fix? Could I take to local hobby shop and see if they can fix or would my son be able to do himself?

Oh sorry didn’t see your first post. Okay my son is pretty good at fiddling with electronics I will have him try to poke about, he wanted to open it up but I wanted to try and go through the company as I was afraid he might make it worse.

Here is the link to our club's website. Have a good browse through it especially the ones with images of our field and all the member's tanks. I was the same. I bought my first Taigen Tiger and loved it but when I found out about the club through a YT video it made all the difference in the world. You never know, if your son loves RC tanks as much as we do you guys might want to join us next season ;) :D
